The first singles from Alix Perez' debut album '1984' - 'Im Free' and 'Melanie' are considered bonefide classics in their own right.

On the A side 'I'm Free' hits hard with a minimal sound pallet, techno influeced bleeps, huge drums and slabs of bass guaranteed to kill any dance dead. 

The flip side 'Melanie' shows Perez at his sublime soulful self reaching for dusty piano, upright bass and reversed pads. A firm favourite with the liquid Drum & Bass fraternity Melanie set the template for many soulful Drum & Bass tracks to come.
